The first-ever TFT global LAN event debuted in December 2023 in Las Vegas, USA, hosting 500 competitors and 1,000 spectators at the MGM Grand Convention Center.
After a successful debut run, Riot Games is bringing it back for the second time, moving it across the continent to Asia: the Teamfight Tactics Macao Open takes place from December 13-15, 2024.
Welcoming 512 competitors, they compete for a slice of the US$300,000 prize pool, the Tactician’s Belt, and the Macao Open title.
Everything you need to know about the Macao Open 2024
The Macao Open has two ongoing portions: Main Event and Side Events.
Macao Open Main Event
Competing on Set 13, which releases just before the start of the tournament, a total of 512 competitors enter on Day 1. One player wins it all on Day 3.
Players are initially seeded based on their Magic n’ Mayhem Set 12 ranking, which cuts off on September 2, 2024 at 12:15 a.m. server time.
From Round 2 onwards, players are seeded via snake draft based upon the points they earn throughout the tournament.
Points are awarded to each player based on their results at the end of each game.

From Day 2 onwards, the top four in each lobby advances to the next round. (This differs from the Las Vegas open where only the top two were allowed to progress.)
Macao Open Main Event schedule
Day 1
- Round 1: 512 players are split into lobbies of eight and play three games each. The top four point earners from each lobby advances to Round 2.
- Round 2: 256 players are split into lobbies of eight and play three games each. The top four point earners per lobby advance.
- Round 3: 128 players are split into lobbies of eight and play three games each. The top four point earners per lobby advance.
Day 2
- Round 4: 64 players are split into lobbies of eight and play three games each. The top four point earners per lobby advance.
- Round 5: 32 players are split into lobbies of eight and play three games each. The top four point earners per lobby advance.
- Round 6: 16 players are split into lobbies of eight and play four games each. The top four point earners from each lobby move on to the finals.
Day 3
- Finals: The top eight players will play in a checkmate format. The first player to earn 20 points and subsequently finish 1st place in a game wins the TFT Macao Open Championship.
Macao Open Side Events
All who are not actively competing in the Main Event are welcome to participate in free game stations. They contain fun modes, Normals, 4v4, Mastermind (1v1 mode where each player controls four PCs simultaneously), and exclusive LAN game modes you’ll not see anywhere else.
You’ll stand a chance to win swag and other prizes in these Side Events.
Macao Open prize pool
The top 128 players are guaranteed to walk away with a share of the US$300,00 USD prize pool. The Macao Open champion takes home US$100,000.
Additionally, all players receive an event-exclusive in-game emote based on their placement in the Main Event.

How to buy passes for Macao Open
There are two types of passes you can purchase: competitor and spectator. Players are required to have a valid Riot Games account in order to register and purchase their pass.
Competitor bundles
Competitor bundles start at US$399. Players ranked Master and above receive a discount.

Spectator passes
Spectator Passes are available for anyone who wants to attend but not compete in the Main Event.
Passes cost US$150, which includes admission for all three days, entry to Side Events, and access to other onsite activities such as meet and greets, panels, and more.
Both competitor bundles and spectator passes go on sale in dedicated windows based on Set 12 ladder rankings at 5 a.m. PT, 8 a.m. ET, 2 p.m EST, and 8 p.m. GMT+8 each day.
There’s a dedicated sales window for Tactician’s Crown participants who competed in Set 9 (Runeterra Reforged), Set 10 (Remix Rumble), and Set 11 (Inkborn Fables).
