In the grand finals of the ONE TEKKEN Tokyo Invitational 3v3 tournament, Team South Korea’s Jeong “Rangchu” Hyeon-ho, Lim “Ulsan” Soo-hoon, and Kang “Chanel” Seong-ho, completed an incredible 3-2 comeback against Team Japan’s Shoji “Double” Takakubo, Genki “Gen” Kumisaka, and Jyotaro “Jyotaro” Tsunoda.

Hot off their 3-2 victory against Team All-Stars, Team Japan had both the momentum and the roaring support of the Tokyo crowd on their side.

Chanel was the first representative of Team South Korea, while Jyotaro stepped up first for Team Japan.

With all players having to lock in their characters for the whole tournament, Chanel played his trusted main of Alisa while Jyotaro played Noctis.

Although the ROX Dragons player could be seen as the stronger player in this matchup, Chanel was having trouble with Jyotaro’s tricky mixups and seemed unfamiliar with both his opponent and the character he was playing.

With the score tied 2-2, time running out, and both players low on life, Chanel went for a risky Rage Drive, but it didn’t pay off, and Jyotaro won the following slow-motion clash with a faster while-rising kick to take game one.

Next up for Team South Korea was Rangchu and his legendary Panda. With Jyotaro still hot from his last matchup, the Japanese player started aggressively, taking the fight to Rangchu.

Jyotaro had a good read on Rangchu, and repeatedly parried his lows, answering them with strong punishes. While Rangchu was able to take a game off Jyotaro, there was no stopping him, and he ended the third round by blocking Rangchu’s heavy launch and punishing him with a quick sword slash.

Up 2-0, Team Japan looked to finish off Team South Korea, but the last man standing in their way was Korea’s 20-year-old prodigy, Ulsan.

Jyotaro continued his amazing run and was able to take two rounds off Ulsan, but with the score tied at 2-2, he finally ran out of steam, and Ulsan was able to knock him out with a huge combo and a tracking karate chop.

With Jyotaro out, Gen was the next contender from Team Japan.

Playing Shaheen, Gen was unable to break the impenetrable defense of Ulsan. In their last round together, Gen was desperate to deal damage and initiated his Rage Art too early, giving Ulsan an easy punish to finish him off.

With both teams down to their last man, the final matchup of the tournament saw Ulsan face off against Japan’s Marshall Law specialist, Double.

While Ulsan had momentum on his side, Double didn’t make it easy for him. Both players traded rounds, and the score again ended up tied 2-2.

In the last round, Ulsan opened up Double with a beautiful magic-4 counter-hit that sent the Japanese player flying to the wall. Ulsan wasted no time moving in to finish him off, stomping Double with a ground attack to win the game, complete the reverse sweep, and seal the 3-2 victory for Team South Korea.

For their victory, Team South Korea won US$9,000 (JPY 990,000). Team Japan took home US$4,500 (JPY 495,000) for finishing in second place.
