The Valorant patch 9.10 release date is fast approaching, and Riot Games has revealed some major updates that are sure to shake up the game.
Announced on October 22, 2024, patch 9.10 includes significant changes to key agents. It introduces a brand-new armor type that’s going to impact clutch moments and Valorant’s economy system.
According to game designer Dan Hardison, the offseason is the perfect time to make these significant updates since there are no ongoing VCT matches.
Players can expect some serious tweaks in Valorant patch 9.10 and possibly one of the biggest meta shifts in recent months with the introduction of a mysterious new armor system.

Agent Updates
Phoenix
- Blaze: Phoenix’s flame wall can now penetrate solid objects, making him a better entry duelist. The change also gives his team better attacker options when pushing sites.
- Hot Hands: This ability has been changed to a basic skill and no longer recharges after two kills, pushing Phoenix players to use it more carefully during rounds.
- Curveball: This is now Phoenix’s signature ability. Curveball will regain one charge after two kills, ensuring Phoenix can continue to aggressively when he obtains new flashes.
Gekko (The Gekko update was released on October 22, 2024, with patch 9.08)
- Thrash (Ultimate): Gekko’s ultimate cost has increased by one point.
- Dizzy and Wingman: While Riot hasn’t released all the details yet, they have confirmed changes to how Gekko players can reclaim Dizzy and Wingman.
Although specific details have not been released, sentinel agents Sage and Cypher are also expected to receive changes in patch 9.10.
New armor type: Regen Shield
One of the most intriguing additions in Valorant Patch 9.10 is the Regen Shield, a completely new armor type.
Riot Games has kept most of the specifics under wraps, but as its name suggests, this new armor regenerates. Additional armor could make the difference for players looking to clutch the round.
It could also change how players approach their aim duels, allowing them to recover armor after winning fights, adding a whole new strategic layer to the game.
While we don’t have all the details just yet, the Regen Shield’s potential impact is huge, and it’s sure to be a hot topic of discussion before the patch’s release.

Valroant Patch 9.10 is expected to be released on November 19, 2024, four weeks after patch 9.08.
