Gen.G Esports are the new reigning kings of VCT Pacific.
The Korean squad was crowned the 2024 VCT Pacific Kickoff champions when they dethroned last year’s Pacific League champions, Paper Rex, with a 3-1 victory in the grand final.
Kim “t3xture” Na-ra, Kim “Lakia” Jong-min, Byeon “Munchkin” Byeong Sang-beom, and VCT rookie Kim “Karon” Won-tae were all new additions to Gen.G’s roster during the offseason.
While all players on the team, including Kim “Meteor” Tae-o, had strong performances throughout the tournament, the team’s controller main, Karon, was named tournament MVP after the grand final.

The rookie finished his first VCT grand final match with a 64/43/25 KDA and an average combat score of 214.
The tournament win awarded the Korean squad a top seed at Masters Madrid and three Championship Points for Valorant Champions 2024.

Gen.G Esports dethrones Paper Rex at VCT Pacific Kickoff with a 3-1 grand final victory
Gen.G made quick work of their opponents on the opening map, Ascent. Karon denied PRX’s trademark W gaming playstyle by anchoring the A site.
After taking a slight 7-5 lead at halftime, Gen.G put on a master-class performance on attack.
Gen.G’s duelist main t3xture dismantled PRX’s defenses with his sharp aim and hyper-aggressive playstyle on attack. The Korean squad won six straight rounds after halftime, which gave them a 1-0 lead in the series.

The second map, Split, went the way of PRX. The Singaporean squad’s triple duelist agent comp with Jett, Raze, and Yoru was too much for Gen.G, which resulted in a quick 13-4 victory for PRX.
Lotus, the third map in the series, was the most competitive game between the two grand final teams. They exchanged crucial round wins, but t3xture and Munchkin stood out, providing their team with a slight edge.
In the final rounds on Lotus, they outperformed everyone, particularly Munchkin, who finished with an impressive 24/15/4 KDA in Gen.G’s 13-11 victory.
In the final map, Bind, Gen.G decisively defeated PRX.
Gen.G’s strategic use of a double controller composition with Brimstone and Viper proved superior to PRX’s double duelist and double initiator composition, featuring Raze, Yoru, Gekko, and Fade.
Despite PRX’s attempts to use utility to their advantage, they couldn’t exploit any weaknesses in Gen.G’s strategy, leading to a quick 13-4 victory for the Korean squad.
