Riot Games has requested that Killjoy be disabled for all Valorant tournaments, including this weekend’s highly anticipated FaZe Clan Valorant Invitational.
“Due to the recency of Killjoy’s release, there is a risk that multiple issues may negatively impact the competitive integrity of this weekend’s tournament,” FaZe Clan tweeted.
The Valorant community has notably been divided on Killjoy, with 100 Thieves captain Spencer “Hiko” Martin even going as far as to say that Riot is making a huge mistake with their implementation of the agent.
“I personally think agents like this lower the skill ceiling. It’s pretty misleading and hypocritical,” said Hiko.

While most players criticize Killjoy’s Turret ability, which they perceive as somewhat overpowered, we think it’s her Ultimate, Lockdown, that everyone should be getting worried about.
With that said, it will be a while before we can see how Killjoy will perform in professional matches. Riot may even be looking to tweak her skillset in an upcoming patch to address the community’s concerns before she can see competitive play.
Until then, you can catch the FaZe Clan Valorant Invitational from August 6-9, where 16 teams, including top squads G2 Esports and Sentinels, will duke it out for the lion’s share of a US$50,000 prize pool.
