Duelist main Wang “Jinggg” Jing Jie is returning to competitive play, Paper Rex announced today.
In August last year during Valorant Champions 2023, head coach Alexandre “alecks” Sallé stated that Jinggg enters National Service — compulsory military enlistment in Singapore that lasts two years — at the start of 2024.
Cahya “Monyet” Nugraha, formerly from Global Esports, replaced him during VCT Pacific Kickoff 2024. The team lost to Gen.G 3-1 in the grand final to take second place and qualify for Masters Madrid.
In Madrid, they lost to Gen.G 2-0 again in the upper bracket final. In the lower bracket, they swept LOUD before they were eliminated by Sentinels 3-1 in the lower bracket final to finish in third place.
The Paper Rex Valorant roster suddenly experiences a big shift
Jinggg rejoins the main roster for VCT Pacific Split 1 which runs from April 6 to May 12, 2024.
He has been following the due process for military enlistment over the last few months, which includes medical examinations.
The medical review stated that he is living with a life-long medical condition and is therefore unfit for military service. The condition is being managed with ongoing treatment.
Paper Rex and Jinggg’s family has requested for everyone to respect his privacy as his medical condition is a personal matter.
Jinggg has remained signed to the organization as a reserve player throughout this time. They have since extended his contract until 2026. He returns to the main roster while Monyet is moved to reserve.
“We were always prepared for the time that Jing Jie would have to register for his military service. Plans to keep our Valorant roster’s competitive edge began as early as the start of 2023,” said Harley “dsn” Örvall, Chief Gaming Officer (CGO).
“However, we consider ourselves extremely fortunate that recent developments allow Jing Jie to continue competing on our team. Naturally, we’re ecstatic and are working to ensure Jing Jie’s documents and
paperwork are in order to get him back in the game as soon as possible.”

Jinggg has been with PRX since 2021. Together, they dominated VCT APAC in 2022. At Masters Copenhagen 2022, they lost to FunPlus Phoenix 3-2 in the grand final, finishing second. At Valorant Champions 2022, they concluded their run in 9th-12th place.
Making a comeback the following year with Ilia “something” Petrov, who replaced Benedict “Benkai” Tan, PRX clinched the inaugural VCT 2023 Pacific League title and went on to take third place at Masters Tokyo 2023. At Valorant Champions 2023, they lost to Evil Geniuses 3-1 in the grand final to finish second.
