South Korean esports organization, T1, continues to build a North American powerhouse in Valorant with the addition of former CS:GO pro Victor “Food” Wong.
Food joins Braxton “Brax” Pierce, Keven “AZK” Larivière, and Austin “crashies” Roberts as the fourth member of T1’s Valorant roster, which will notably be coached by CS legend Daniel “fRoD” Montaner.
“T1 is a big name in League of Legends, so I’m definitely happy to be part of [the organization],” Food said in an interview with ESPN Esports.
Prior to his retirement from CS:GO and move to Valorant, Food last played in the North American stack Swole Patrol, alongside Ryan “freakazoid” Abadir and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, who have also made the move to Riot Games’ new shooter.
Swole Patrol notably struggled to compete due to a lack of organizational support, which eventually prompted some of its players to quit CS:GO for greener pastures.
Food has been a consistent figure in the North American CS:GO scene since 2016, though he found the most success in recent years while playing for Singularity, Swole Patrol, and eUnited.
While Valorant is still just a month into its closed beta phase, the hype surrounding the game has been phenomenal. Big-name players from other shooter games like CS:GO, Apex Legends, and Overwatch are already trying their luck in Valorant’s fledgling competitive scene well ahead of its expected rise to a top tier esport.
