Riot Games recently unveiled the upcoming Agent 25 at Masters Madrid, and the character has captivated the players since. With smokes that remain viable post-death and a healing ability similar to Reyna, Clove has the potential to be the next controller-duelist hybrid. 

But there’s a lot more to know about the immortal controller, who has feisty voice lines and a pink punk rock style.

Clove nationality details — where is Clove from?

Clove is the first agent from Scotland to join Valorant. They hail from Edinburgh and have a strong Scottish accent, which is noticeable in their voice lines. 

Clove’s Scottish heritage is evident in their dialogue, which reflects Scotland’s rich storytelling culture. Compared to other agents, Clove is more nuanced and well-spoken and likes to play with words. Clove’s voice actor is currently unknown. 

With themes of revival at the center, the latest cinematic showcases Clove strolling through some famous spots in Scotland. After dying, Clove wakes up and treads on a golden thread that leads them into The Balmoral Hotel. Edinburgh Waverley Station can also be spotted in the cinematic, where Clove activates their ultimate and enters the real world of Valorant. 

Clove gender in Valorant

Clove is Valorant’s first non-binary agent with they/them pronouns, as confirmed by Riot Games in official teasers and blogs. Individuals who identify as non-binary may see themselves as both male and female, neither male nor female, a combination of both. However, Riot hasn’t shared more details about Clove’s gender besides the pronouns. 

All 24 agents have unique identities and come from diverse backgrounds. These agents represent different forms of self-expression, preferences, genders, and identities so players worldwide feel included. After confirming that Killjoy and Raze are in a romantic relationship, Riot Games has now announced that Clove is non-binary.

Clove’s style is quite similar to Gekko and Neon’s, but the butterflies add a unique touch to their overall persona. They are short, likely the same height as Jett, the shortest agent in the game, and wear multiple pins in their dark hair.

The ability promo shared by Riot Games suggests that Clove would significantly shake the meta in, mainly due to their post-death smokes, which is a new concept in the FPS. 

While essentially a controller, Clove’s toolkit takes inspiration from several other agents, making them a versatile pick. Their self-healing is similar to Reyna’s overheal, whereas their revive would remind seasoned players of Pheonix. Besides being an impactful shooter, Clove also gains mobility during their Pick Me Up ability. Gameplay-wise, Clove is more similar to duelists than any existing controller. This would allow players with a hybrid style to give the smoker roster a shot.

Their toolkit has the potential to shine on all of the current maps, but Clove would be exceptionally viable on smaller maps like Icebox, Fracture, Bind, and more. You can find the full breakdown of all Clove abilities here.

When does Clove release?

Clove will officially be released on March 26 with Valorant Episode 8 Act 2. Players will be able to unlock Clove through the 28-day progression event for newly released agents. More details on the release of the new agent can be found here.
