Korea meets China on the esports stage once again as Riot Games announces a new tournament Wild Rift Rivals 2021: LCK vs LPL Invitational.
The last time that we saw these two major leagues clash was at the 2020 Mid-Season Cup where LPL team Top Esports emerged as champions.
What is the Wild Rift Rivals 2021: LCK vs LPL Invitational?
The Wild Rift Rivals 2021: LCK vs LPL Invitational will mark the start of Wild Rift esports in South Korea and China. The invitational will pit League of Legends’ two major regions — South Korea’s League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) and China’s League of Legends Pro League (LPL) against each other.

This Wild Rift tournament will run for four days starting on August 11 and ending on August 14. (All times and days are in GMT+8.)

Format of the Wild Rift Rivals 2021: LCK vs LPL Invitational
The tournament will start with a showmatch between LCK and LPL representatives in a best-of-five series. It will be followed by the Main Match, which will be played in a best-of-three format.
A total of three rounds will be played during the Main Match. Every LCK team will play one match against an LPL team.
The Final will be a best-of-five series.

The Legend Match will feature former League of Legends pro players, including legendary Thresh player Madlife, former T1 top laner Flame, streamer Cpt Jack, and retired LPL players LoveLing, Misaya, and CoLiN.

Wild Rift Rivals 2021: LCK vs LPL Invitational — Main Match teams
The Main Match will feature the LCK’s first few Wild Rift teams including T1, KT Rolster, and Liiv SANDBOX.
While all T1 Wild Rift members are in the Challenger tier, fans should watch out for the team’s Baron laner Park “JJong” Kyung-min who’s known as a solo-kill machine.
KT Rolster was the first esports organization to establish a Wild Rift team in South Korea. Their playstyle includes ending the game quickly.
Liiv SANDBOX’s Wild Rift roster stars super player Kim “Yujin” Yujin and jungler Han “Kiri” Hogeon known for his wide champion pool.
Meanwhile, all participating LPL teams in the tournament have been featured at the 2021 LPL Warm Up Cup.

Wild Rift Rivals 2021: LCK vs LPL Invitational prize pool
The Main Event will offer a US$90,000 prize pool.
Teams from the winning region will receive US$20,000 each, while teams from the losing region will get US$10,000 each.
