Thailand representative Buriram United Esports has finally broken the curse after advancing to the lower bracket semifinals of the WCS Finals 2022, securing a spot at the Icons Global Championship happening later this year.
For the past year, BRU has always been one step short of qualifying for the Horizon Cup, getting reverse swept in the upper and lower brackets twice.
With these big wins, the team’s dragon laner, Pongsatorn “Coldenfeet” Kornrat, is starting to feel more pressure.
In an interview with ONE Esports, Coldenfeet shares his sentiments coming into the Wild Rift Champions Southeast Asia and the pressure he feels representing Thailand.

The former League of Legends pro player revealed that the pressure that he feels “is more than expected.”
Before qualifying for the lower bracket semifinals, Buriram United Esports showed great performances against SEM9, Team Flash, and Vietnamese favorites Cerberus Esports, whom they beat in a thrilling best-of-five series.

“We weren’t happy during the first game because we weren’t in the right condition,” he revealed in a chat with ONE Esports.
Despite pulling a clean sweep 3-0 against SEM9 during the second day of the Playoffs, Coldenfeet wasn’t satisfied with their overall performance.
“I think we still need to improve on our individual skills,” he said. “To be honest, our skills right now weren’t on par with our form when we played against EVOS Esports in the Thai championship.”
WCS Thailand’s grand final saw an unstoppable Buriram United Esports where they dominated against EVOS Esports TH 4-2.
“We still have a lot of things missing compared to what we were able to do at that time,” Coldenfeet said. “Now, we are under a lot of pressure because we are the only Thai team left.”
The dragon laner promised to do his best on the global stage and proudly raise Thailand’s flag.
Buriram United Esports will face Philippine representatives Rex Regum Qeon in the lower bracket semifinals on Friday, May 6 at 5 p.m. GMT+8.
